Course Information & FAQ

Is Network+ for me?

Good question, and I mean it. Before you sign up for any course or programme, you should determine what you need, research to see what’s on offer, and then decide what best suits you, which is not always easy.

If you want to work in systems support and network administration, the CompTIA Network+ qualification is for you. CompTIA recommends you already have obtained their A+ qualification, and while it is good to have, you can still sit the Network+ exam without the A+ as a prerequisite.

Is Network+ training expensive?

Yes and no. There is a ton of training material available: some free, some reasonably priced, and some ridiculously expensive. For example, you can purchase 300 practice exam questions that will cost you more than our entire CBT course, including 1000+ exam questions, a book covering all CompTIA Network+ exam objectives and the accompanying instructional videos. So, it’s a good idea to shop around.

In my experience, students typically do not have money to burn or time to waste. And if not entirely free, training and education should at least be affordable. Currently, you will find Network+ bundle packages on the CompTIA website ranging from US$462.00 to $2299.00. The exam voucher alone costs US$358.00 (Sep 2023).

Is Network+ worth it?

Another great question I have been asked many times, and I always give the same answer. The Network+ certification is no guarantee that you will be great in your new job, but it does prove to an employer that you performed to an internationally recognised standard when you passed the exam, which is all you need.

I once read that the money you pay for an IT certification will be paid back to you 30-fold. That is true, and over time, probably much more. Not only will you increase your employability, but you will also increase your income.

Who is this course for?

The illustrated Network+ Certification Course fits all ages and provides the material required to pass the CompTIA Network+ exam. It is a complete package catering to school leavers who want to find employment in the IT industry or people who are already in work but want to pursue an IT career. Most of my students have been career changers stuck in dead-end jobs.

The student age ranges from 16 to 59, with an average age of around 27. The experience level also varies, from IT novices to computer geeks who require guidance (and motivation) to pass the Network+ exam.

If you fit into any of these categories and want value for money combined with almost 20 years of classroom teaching experience, then this course is for you.

What type of learner will benefit from this course?

Recognised types of learners include visual, auditory and kinesthetic.

Around 65 per cent of the general population are visual learners, while only 30 per cent are auditory learners, and kinesthetic learners comprise only around five per cent. So, what does this mean for online learning? It means that student engagement is paramount because if you are not engaged, you will not learn!

The illustrated Network+ Certification Course is designed to address all learning types. Visual learners benefit from the instructional videos along with the provided text, and auditory learners may listen to the course like you would listen to an audiobook. Combined audio and video yield the best results, and hands-on exercises are also provided, catering to the kinesthetic learner. Hundreds of review questions reinforce your newly acquired knowledge, further deepening your understanding.

What makes this course different?

Excellent question! Almost two decades of teaching have taught me that slideshows are a sure way to put a student to sleep, no matter how many sound effects one incorporates. Likewise, endless and monotone videos have the same impact on students.

Some Network+ online training courses contain over 200 individual videos! I have never had a student who got to the end of such a programme. Reviewing a specific topic is impossible since searching through dozens of videos and hours of content is unfeasible. Often, the instructor is constantly displayed in the video’s corner, distracting even further.

This course is not a big corporate project sold alongside dozens of mass-produced certification courses. This course is hand-crafted and developed based on the experience gathered during almost two decades of teaching computer systems engineering and network administration. This course is instructor-led, and you are required to participate in exercises to improve your understanding of the subject matter. To help you achieve your goal, comprehensive explanations and vivid illustrations are provided.

The illustrated Network+ Certification Course is precisely that – illustrated! Over 1,000 illustrations and images help explain complex topics and often difficult-to-grasp concepts. Text and explanations are provided throughout the course, so you can always follow the currently discussed content. Yes, you have to participate!

How is the course structured?

All topics are arranged by difficulty, not according to the CompTIA exam objective outline or a typical textbook index. I believe specific topics ought to be taught before more difficult ones that should logically follow.

Not only can you watch the videos, but you will always be able to return to any section in the course within seconds! You always know where you are within the programme and what exam objectives we currently cover.

All material is provided as a book in PDF form with a table of contents, a searchable index and dozens of links to additional resources. The book is logically structured and contains bookmarks relating to the individual exam topics, making navigation a breeze.

Once you have finished the entire programme or specific topic, you can test your knowledge with hundreds of practice exam questions.

Is this course for me?

Another excellent question, and I will try to give you an answer.

If the previous paragraphs resonate with you and you are keen to learn and determined to become Network+ certified, this course may be for you. This brings me back to the first paragraph above, where I recommended defining your needs, shopping around, and exploring the best training options for you.

AMG Training® will provide you with a comprehensive and engaging Network+ certification course based on years of experience at an affordable price. It includes the instructional videos, a PDF textbook with links to external resources, bookmarks to individual exam topics and all the text, content and illustrations referred to in the videos. The Illustrated Network+ Certification Course is a multi-pronged approach designed to help you master crucial network administration concepts required to meet the CompTIA Network+ exam N10-008.
